General — Aerotropolis Overview

What is Mohali Aerotropolis? +
Mohali Aerotropolis is a 5,500-acre GMADA-planned township adjacent to Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh. It is divided into 9 pockets (A–I). Pockets A, B, C, and D are active — LOIs (Letters of Intent) have been issued. Pockets E–I are in various stages of land acquisition and planning.
What is a GMADA LOI? +
An LOI (Letter of Intent) is a document issued by GMADA confirming plot allotment. Original allottees received LOIs directly from GMADA. In the secondary market, investors buy and sell LOIs. The actual sale deed (registry) and possession happen after GMADA completes infrastructure — estimated 2027–28 for Phase 1.
Who is GMADA? +
GMADA (Greater Mohali Area Development Authority) is a statutory body of the Government of Punjab responsible for planned development in the Greater Mohali region. It is a government developer — making Aerotropolis investments more secure than private developer projects, though timelines are subject to government processes.
When will possession happen in Aerotropolis? +
For Pockets B, C, and D where grid road construction is 40% complete, possession is estimated in 2027–28. Pocket A has a court case on 927 acres which may delay possession in that area. Pockets E–I are much further away — likely 2028–30 at earliest.
